Class DescriptionsFabulous Freehand Fun for Blocks, Borders & Backgrounds (Hands-on Longarm OR Longarm Demo)You have outgrown stippling and meandering and have come to enjoy the fun of freehand all-over quilting? Well, then you are ready to take the next step. In this hands-on class you will experience the potential of your favorite freehand fillers – and of those that Birgit will show you. Find out how to use freehand filler elements for continuous-line block and border quilting for spectacular results. Wholecloth Quilting – Efficient Yet Spectacular (Hands-On Longarm)Have you ever been approached by a customer who ordered wholecloth quilting but was reluctant to pay the heirloom rate? Join Birgit in this hands-on class and get to know her way of wholecloth quilting for customers without up-front marking. You will learn how to draft your ideas on paper first and then use this draft as a reference while quilting away... Exploring the Potential of Freehand Fillers (Longarm Demo)You think that freehand fillers are perfect for background and for edge-to-edge quilting only? Well, think again. In this class, Birgit will show you how to extract individual elements of your favorite fillers and to use them as creative motifs for blocks and borders. In a second step, you will discover that combining two or three of these elements will leave you with so much variety that nobody will suspect your quilting being “just” a tweaked freehand filler pattern! Wholecloth Quilting As You Go (Longarm Demo)Would you like to give wholecloth quilting a try but don't have the patience or space for all that marking up front? Well, there is an alternative. Let Birgit show you how to outline your wholecloth on paper and then to use this draft as a reference in the quilting process. She will show you some of her favorite layouts together with more or less complex detail options. Triangle Fun (Hands-on Domestic Sewing Machine)Do you like to play? And do you love – surprises? Well, then you may want to join in the fun and play with a bunch of triangles to make a contemporary wallhanging. Choose 14 to 16 fabrics forming a gradation from color A to color B (about 8“ WOF per fabric) and cut two 60° triangles from each fabric (6“ side length). Are you brave enough to add a wild fabric to your selection for that additional interest? Bring your triangles and ALL left over fabric along to class and let the fun begin! We'll cut, switch, stitch and cut the triangles several times for a surprising result... If you have questions about the above classes, the supply lists or class requirements or if you would like to book me to teach any of the above classes for your group of quilters, you are welcome to contact me at . |
